J. Don McAlpin, President

J. Don is the Community Bank President for First United Bank and Trust.  He has lived in the Marble Falls community since 2000.  He is married to a Marble Falls Middle School Counselor, Patty McAlpin, and they have two daughters, Kate McAlpin and Libby McAlpin, that graduated from Marble Falls High School.  He shares a deep commitment for the welfare and education of our children and feels the Marble Falls Education Foundation is a great avenue to help teachers and children grow their knowledge.

Jeff Bingham, Vice President of Development

Jeff  is Senior Vice President and Manager of the Security State Bank & Trust Branch in Marble Falls, Texas. He has worked in the banking industry for 42 years, the past 20 in Marble Falls.  Jeff attended Sam Houston State University and earned a BBA of Finance Degree. He also served his country and state for 20 years in the Texas Army National Guard as a Finance Officer.  Jeff and his wife Wendy reside in Marble Falls.  The Bingham’s sons Lane and Ross and daughter-in-law Caybrie are MFISD alumni.

Matt Cochran, Vice President of Community Awareness/Marketing

Matt has been an entrepreneur and business owner in the Marble Falls area for the last 20 years.  He currently owns and operates Printworks of Texas in Marble Falls and D&W Printing and Office Supply in Burnet.  After graduating Baylor University with a BA in Business Administration, he married his best friend and high school sweetheart.  Shelley has been a teacher for over 13 years in Marble Falls and is currently teaching Resource at the middle school.  Shelley and Matt have three active boys that are proud to be Mustangs.  Matt has served on several nonprofit boards in the area as well as being an active member of his church.

Christian Fletcher, Vice President of Governance & Secretary

Christian has been the Executive Director of the Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation since September 2011.  Prior to that, he was the Executive Director of the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce for 5 ½ years.  Christian has degrees from Duke and Yale in academic disciplines only divinely connected to economic development.  He and his wife, Kathy, are both natives of Marble Falls, and they currently have two teenage sons at Marble Falls High School.

Lee Ann Johnson, MFISD Board Trustee

Lee Ann, CAE, is an association executive with over 25 years of experience in the association industry. Ms. Johnson is the Director of Member Services for the Texas Dental Association where she oversees all aspects of member-related services and marketing/communication for over 9,100 members.  Ms. Johnson is serving her second term on the Marble Falls ISD School Board and is honored to also serve on the Marble Falls Education Board.

She is the extremely proud parent of daughter, Amanda Grace Johnson, MFHS Class of 2014, who is attending the University of Texas and majoring in Public Relations.

Steve Lackey, Vice President of Finance

Steve Lackey is a banker by trade and a people person in practice.  He is the President of the Marble Falls branch of First Capital Bank of Texas.  After graduating from Texas Tech University, the banking business took him to Dallas for 20 years and back to his roots in West Texas in Lubbock for the past 15 years.  His next move was to the Hill Country which he says is the “most beautiful part of Texas…Marble Falls is home now and my wife, Sara, and I love it here”. Steve feels that by investing in our students and teachers, we strengthen the community and help to ensure a better future!

Ryan Nash

Ryan is a Marble Falls native and graduate of Marble Falls High School.  He attended the University of Texas at Austin and earned a B.S. in Architectural Engineering.  He and his wife Stacey have three children in Marble Falls ISD schools.  Ryan has worked in the construction and real estate development industry for 15 years.  He currently serves on the Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation board and is a past member of the Marble Falls City Council.

Alex Payson, MFISD Board Trustee

Alex is the founder of Numinous Coffee Roasters in Marble Falls.  His wife, Kathy Payson, is the instructional coach at Colt Elementary School, and their twins attend Colt Elementary.  In addition to working with the Education Foundation, Alex is fortunate to be able to serve on the board of trustees for MFISD.

Kara Stewart, Past President

Kara is a West Texas native and graduate of Texas A&M University. Shane and Kara Stewart have lived in Marble Falls for almost 20 years and have two daughters that are both a part of the Marble Falls ISD and active in many different extracurricular activities through the school and various community and church organizations as well!   Kara was employed with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals as a sales representative in the Midland area before moving to the Hill Country in 2001 as an event planner in the Healthcare industry.  After having children, Kara took the full time position as Marketing Director and “Chief of Public Relations”, as she likes to call it, at their State Farm Insurance office here in Marble Falls.  Kara Stewart currently serves as our Education Foundation President and enjoys volunteering in the classroom, helping in the community, and playing an active role in being a positive influence on those she is around.

Shannon Roberts, Marketing Committee

Shannon moved to the Marble Falls area in 2013 with her husband Davy and her two children, Kaden and Kylie.  Their dream had always been to settle in the hill country area and when Davy was able to bring his land developing company, Lone Star Land Partners, to the Marble Falls area they were thrilled to be able to fulfill their family’s dream.  Her son Kaden is an 8th grader at Marble Falls Middle School and her daughter Kylie is a 6th grader at the middle school as well. Shannon loves Marble Falls and loves serving our school district and this community.  She is excited about the future of Marble Falls ISD and especially loves working with the Marble Falls Education Foundation.

Stacey Tays

Stacey is a central Texas native and holds degrees from both Texas A&M and Sam Houston State University. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, she has worked in the mental health field for over 20 years in a variety of capacities including non-profit, private practice, ISD contract and inpatient treatment. She previously served as lead recruiter for the Texas Tech University hill country campuses in Marble Falls, Fredericksburg and Junction. She and her husband Mark have two daughters; Molly, a freshman at MFHS, and Kamryn, a sixth grader at the STEAM Academy in Spicewood.

Diana Virdell, Vice President of Programs

Diana grew up in the farming community of Wall, Texas, graduated from Wall HS and then obtained her B.S and Masters degrees from Angelo State University.  During a teaching career of 40 years, she taught all math courses from 4th grade thru PreCalculus; coached girls volleyball, basketball and track; and served as a School Guidance Counselor at one time or another for grades K-12.  Sixteen of her years were spent in MFISD.  She was married to Micky Virdell (deceased), has two sons Kevin(Jennifer) and Keith(TyAnna), and four grandchildren.  Her retirement years are spent volunteering in the various organizations she belongs to, quilting, reading and gardening.

Dr. Chris Allen, Ex-Officio Trustee

Chris has been an educator for over 20 years during which time he have served as a Teacher, Coach, Assistant Principal, Principal, Assistant Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Superintendent. He has been married to his wife, Natalie, for 21 years and has two boys who attend Marble Falls Middle School.

Executive Director

Pam Parkman, Executive Director

Pam is a nonprofit executive with over 20+ years of experience in leadership roles.  Ms. Parkman moved back to the Texas Hill Country from Lubbock, Texas to become the Executive Director of the Education Foundation.  A West Texas native she previously served as the Director of Development for the Carillon Foundation, and as the Executive Director of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra where she served on the national board of symphony orchestras in New York.  Pam has two sons, Ross who lives in Indianapolis and Mason, who lives in Tulsa with his new bride Marissa.  Pam loves college sports and playing golf in the beautiful Highland Lakes area.
